The exhibition Essential Brossa is the first to be shown at the permanent gallery space at the Joan Brossa Foundation in Barcelona. The works on display, selected from the Foundation’s collection, constitute a sample of the different genres explored by the Catalan poet in his artistic practice. The exhibition is structured around the following genres: object poems, visual poems, posters and installations. The exhibition is complemented by a selection of Brossa’s books and several editions of Brossa’s literary output and visual poems, as well as a series of photographs of object and concrete poems.

A gallery screening audiovisuals, plays, short films, interviews and documentaries about Brossa’s life and work has also been set up in order to provide an overview of the figure of the poet Joan Brossa. The collection enables us to discover the essential aspects of Brossa’s world with representative works from each of the fields in which his poetry developed.
