Museu del Calçat
Housed in a Renaissance building that formerly belonged to the Guild of Master Shoemakers, the Museu del Calçat showcases an unusual collection of shoes and tools used in the trade.

The museum features portraits of eminent guild members, reproductions of footwear from the 2nd to 18th centuries and authentic shoes from the 18th century to the present day. Visitors can also see some of the traditional tools, machinery and leather used in the shoemakers’ trade.
Besides tracing the history of footwear, the museum has a section devoted to shoes worn by famous personalities, including Pau Casals, the Catalan singer Núria Feliu, and the clown Charlie Rivel, and the boot worn by the Carles Vallès, the first Catalan to climb Everest. Other highlights include an enormous shoe which was made to fit the foot of the statue of Columbus near the harbour. The shoe is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest shoe in the world.
